World Sickle Cell Day
Every year on 19 June, World Sickle Cell Day is celebrated to increase public awareness about the sickle cell disease, diagnosis, and treatment methods. It was organized by the United Nation in 2008 and first time celebrated on 19 June 2009. Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a common genetic disease which affects red blood cells, and the cells become sickle-shaped which blocks the blood flow which causes pain.
